Tour of the island of Djerba

Djerba, sometimes spelled Jerba is an island of 514 km2 (25 km on 20 and 150 km of coastline) in the Gulf of Gabes in southeastern Tunisia.
This is the largest island off the coast of North Africa. Its main city, Houmt Souk, alone has 44 555 inhabitants.

Ulysses would have crossed, the Carthaginians have established countertops and more, around 587 BC. BC, the island is home to Jewish refugees after the destruction of the Temple of Jerusalem.
The Romans built several towns and to develop agriculture and commercial ports. Christian Vandal, Byzantine and Arabic, Djerba since the 1960s is a popular tourist destination.
This is one of the last regions of Tunisia where a Berber language is still spoken.
It is connected to the mainland by a ferry crossing between ensuring Ajim southwest of the island and Jorf, the crossing takes about fifteen minutes,
and a seven-kilometer road that goes back to the late third century BC. J.-C.3 and restored in Roman times, linking the south-east of the island (locality of El Kantara) to the peninsula of Zarzis.
